A small, attractive book about the groups of people who came to America's shores in ancient ships. Legend suggests landings five thousand years ago rather than five hundred. Sailors came from China and Japan, from the Mali Empire in Africa, from the Mediterranean countries of Phoenicia, Libya, and Iberia. The Vikings and Celts also visited.

The authors state that some of their information is still being scientifically disputed, but readers are invited to make up their own minds upon perusal of this book and perhaps by reading some of the books and "articles listed at the back. Five fine, double-page, brightly coloured illustrations add to the book's appeal.
