Volume 15 Number 1
1987 January

A brief history of the two theatres and the ups and downs that occurred as each theatre shared its stars with its public are presented here. The main purpose of this book is to highlight the riches of the past that Ed Mirvish has endeavoured to preserve by purchasing and renovating these old theatres.

Over eighty old black-and-white photos, sketches, and modern colour shots make this a very interesting photo-story. Twenty-seven pages are devoted to the story of the Royal Alex and thirty-seven pages tell of the Old Vic. Those who enjoy the theatre and/or have had the opportunity to visit either of the two described will find this a truly enjoyable book.
