This publication by Parks Canada was commissioned to coincide with the restoration of Province House, the site of the Charlottetown Conference at which the Fathers of Confederation began the nation building that resulted in this great country.

The text presents a much-abbreviated history of our nation and of Province House. It is augmented by numerous black-and-white and colour photos of historical places and events, and of paintings by William Raphael, Robert Harris, and Dusan Kadlec, among others.

While the 7 x 81/2 inch format makes this a suitable coffee table item, it may also find a limited use in elementary schools as part of an introduction to Confederation. The large number of photos and the simplified table of contents would likely make it appropriate for grades 4 and up.
