Maxine Young provides the reader with an activity book dealing with twelve tribes of North American Indians. The information on the inside of both covers gives a brief, overall history of the North American Indian, as well as descriptions of each piece of tribal clothing depicted in the individual pictures.

Each of the twelve drawings features a different tribal member dressed in either ceremonial or everyday costume. The illustrations are presented on heavy paper to be coloured and cut out. Full colour illustrations on the covers serve as a colour key. Detachable accessories and stands are also included. Once the reader has completed assembling the cut-outs, he or she will have an accurate and varied collection of North American Indians in costume.

It is unfortunate that of the twelve tribes depicted, only three are Canadian. This might restrict its use and appeal in Canadian school libraries. Rather than a library addition it would more likely serve as a teacher resource book or individual activity book.
