Cook Volume 14 Number 5 1986 September The format for each of these books is basically the same. The table of contents on pages 4 and 5 is a series of questions that are answered on the given pages. On page 6 there is a paragraph and picture of something significant to that city, (e.g., Winnipeg, Golden Boy; Calgary, Stetsons; Ottawa, tulips). Page 7 has a small map of Canada with the city's province in colour and the city location marked. At least half of every page has a useful photograph of something within the city. Every page has some interesting historical, geographical, or cultural facts. On page 30 one finds a glossary of the words that are printed in dark type throughout the book, and finally, on page 32 there is an index. The binding for the books is referred to as "Library Style Binding," and though it is not true library binding, I believe it should last better than many other bindings currently in use. I found the books to be quite interesting and on several occasions discovered things about a city I had never known, even though I had visited the city several times. These are up-to-date books on Canadian cities that should definitely be in every elementary school library. Even adults could enjoy these books, although they are written for a much younger audience.
