Sixteen-year-old Lori Carmichael finds out that her younger brother Jamie has Hodgkin's disease. How she deals with this and the whole question of death, plus all the changes in her life, including a break-up with her boyfriend, form the basis of the story.

Pirot has written an excellent novel for the adolescent reader. The story is entirely believable. The problems that Lori faces, her mood changes, her reactions to different situations, and the adjustments she has to make, are realistic. This book has something to suit every taste; some very touching scenes, humour, sadness, and even some romance. The characters are on the whole fairly well-rounded and believable, although Jamie's feelings could have been explored more fully.

I would definitely recommend that this book be purchased for any school library.
