This is a fascinating approach to social history, from Indian healing styles, through pioneer, to modern developments. All the pictures used are original prints, paintings, or photographs. The script is as literate as the visuals are interesting, in themselves, and in the story they tell. Technical terms and medical jargon are avoided. The emphasis is on people's habits, attitudes, values, and skills in the centuries before the triumph of science over disease. The manual mainly reproduces the script. Highly recommended.
