Joey Slinger is a Toronto Star columnist who has made at least one appearance on the Foth's page in the back of Maclean's. This book is a collection of his humorous and satirical columns, and, as the title indicates, there is no topic he will not tackle. He writes about the arts, sports, politics, and life in general, and he is not serious about any of them.

This type of essay is all very well in small doses, read in a daily or weekly paper. But after reading a lot of them at once, they all begin to sound alike. It is the kind of book that friends of mine tend to leave in the bathroom. The essays are short, pointed, and quickly read.

As an example of this type of journalism (the humour column) Joey Slinger's collection might deserve a place in a high school library where there is a journalism or communications-course to support. Otherwise, it is more likely to be purchased by a public library and by Joey Slinger fans.
