This is a guide designed to permit ease of access to Martin's Annual Criminal Code. In this respect it is successful. The guide provides a clear and concise summary of the background, format, and language of the Criminal Code, and provides strategies for the use of the code. A major strength of this guide is that it maintains a brevity and simplicity that makes it easy to use, a quality not always applicable to guides and sets of instructions that often leave their user as confused as they would be without them.

The law has a complexity that can daunt most people. This guide cautions that a lawyer should be consulted by any persons charged with a crime, and that in other circumstances requiring legal advice, paralegal services can be of assistance. These suggestions are very important and are followed by most people encountering legal problems. The readership of this guide will necessarily be limited to those who wish to use Martin's Annual Criminal Code. These will comprise chiefly law students and those with a particular interest in criminal law, together with lawyers and paralegal workers. For all of these people, this guide will be of great value.
