Jennifer Has Two Daddies is Galloway's third children's book on this theme, written from a child's perspective, as if a caring friend of Jennifer's were telling her story Jennifer lives life alternating contentedly between one week with her mother and stepfather and one week with her "real daddy," until her real daddy has to go out of town for three weeks. Anxiety and fear get the better of Jennifer and her reactions to this emotional upheaval make for an interesting and heartwarming story, with just the right touches of humour. The illustrations are wonderfully expressive and do a fine job of furthering the story. Illustrator, Ana Auml, considers the total person and depicts emotions through the faces, postures, and positioning of the characters. The colours are warm and soft to complement and sustain the mood of the story. This book is a worthwhile and useful addition to a home, school, or public library. It will be enjoyed by younger children when read aloud by an adult, and older children will enjoy it as independent reading. Children in similar family situations will appreciate the honesty of feelings, honestly expressed, while children from different situations will gain some insight into the lives and feelings of others.
