Produced in co-operation with The Children's Book Centre, this production has the well-known children's poet, Dennis Lee, reading from his books of poetry. Additionally, the filmstrip helps to provide an insight into the motivation and inspiration for his writings. The listener becomes aware of the poet's varied feelings and their impact on his style of writing. Lee gets in touch with the child in himself and then uses his adult skills to coax the feelings into words. The biographical sketch provides too much detail for primary children. The presentation reveals a diversified talent, as well as an insight into Lee's personality and his need to write. He richly deserves the name of "Father Goose." Highly recommended.
