Elliott Volume 14 Number 2 1986 March For anyone, regardless of age, who is trying to decide about a career, this third addition to the Career Planning series is a very valuable tool. The book describes three broad learning pathways, viz., university, community college, and combined work and study. There are also detailed lists of the varieties of learning programs and occupations within each pathway. The author of this revised edition informs the reader of how the present volume fits in with the other two of the series: no. 1 describes how the person can get a clearer picture of his needs and desires; no. 2 assists the person in learning how to find information about the option and how to evaluate it. The ten chapters are divided among the four major divisions of the work: university, community college, work-study, and the functional divisions of work. The wide variety of print and spacing makes for easy reading. Four pages of black-and-white photos focus on specific kinds of careers. At the conclusion of each chapter the reader is guided to additional references. Because of its simple and straightforward style, the reader is able to get a good picture of the careers available and the steps required to reach them. This reviewer was impressed with the honest and balanced approach employed by the author in describing the pros and cons of career choices, especially at the university level.
