These four volumes are part of a series of fourteen books published for the Canada Studies Foundation. The series, designed to make Canadian students aware of the human and natural resources of their country, is based on Hodgetts's and Gallagher's Teaching Canada for the 80 's published by the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education in 1978.

The first title uses the oil market to demonstrate Canada's role in the world community. Eleven exercises and an oil game comprise most of the volume, Canada: A Vast Environment covers transportation systems and a study of six Canadian communities. Activities involve groups of students planning a trip from an adopted community to their home town. The third title describes the six major geomorphological regions of Canada, with maps indicating natural vegetation, climate, soils, and population distribution. Class activities are based on the ways in which the land influences the people within a region. Canada: Challenges in the Development of Resources focuses on Canada's renewable and non-renewable resources and how they affect the lifestyles of the people.

All of these books are basically activity books with a minimum of textbook material. The activities stimulate interest and critical thinking about Canada's environment and her role in the "global village."

The authors' purpose, to provide curriculum materials that will make students aware of their environment, is successfully achieved. Teachers' guides (not included in this review) are available for the first three titles listed above. Recommended for junior high and secondary school libraries and classrooms.
