Kathy Stinson has done it again. She has got right inside the mind of a bored child pestering her mother and exercising her own imagination at the same time. Nobody really minds; mother has an imagination to match her daughter's, and the book ends with a fine touch of humour.

The same kind of charm is evident as in Bonnie McSmithers (Tree Frog, 1974). As is proper in a picture book, Mary McLoughlin's illustrations in clear, bright colours make the imaginings very vivid indeed, and add visual touches of delight. The page-turns are just right for reading aloud. The format and repetition make a fine opportunity for encouraging beginning readers. I predict an epidemic of "green things."
