Heart of the Rockies is a large format (26 x 31 cm) photo album of the Rocky Mountains. The first twelve pages, printed on vellum paper, are devoted to historical colour photographs. These are reprinted courtesy of The Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies. The balance of the book, printed on glossy paper, contains primarily full-page or double-page colour photographs. The printing quality is excellent. Carole Harmon is not only editor of Heart of the Rockies, but she is also the main contributing photographer. Stephen Hutchings, another contributing photographer, wrote the introduction. Photographs by Don Harmon and Aileen Harmon are also included. Heart of the Rockies has a variety of powerful images. It has scenic as well as detailed, artistic as well as traditional, views of the mountains. The creative layout of the book encourages frequent treks through its pages.
