No author is given for this book, which is part of a series that has as its general editor, Robert Read. Individual titles appear to have their own editor, in this case, Carolann Patsalides. All about water and its uses is covered briefly in a variety of writing styles: fiction, biography, poetry, and factual accounts. The topics covered include the water cycle, the life of Jacques Cousteau, instructions for a model pile dwelling, swimming safety, TV programs involving water (sports, science, movies, ships, etc.), water on postage stamps, the search for the Northwest Passage, making music, underwater mammals, diving signs, water habitats, proverbs and sayings, and a couple of songs. The book is generously illustrated with coloured material on practically every page. The illustrations are both decorative and informative. Good quality paper and print are used; the cover is light card, and the book is stapled.

On examining Hockey and Music, two other titles in the series, it would appear that the purpose has been to provide colourful, attractive, supplementary readers on subjects and topics of interest to children. Recommended.
