McGrath Volume 13 Number 6 1985 November Celebrity All-Occasion Cooking, published as a fund-raising project for Epilepsy Ontario and other non-profit organizations, is the second volume of the All-Occasion Cooking series. The recipes are varied and interesting, and the celebrities, whose names and photographs are displayed above their particular contributions, include H.R.H. The Princess of Wales, the Reagans, and numerous film stars, television personalities, singers, etc. A few Canadian celebrities are present, Anne Murray with her "Hearty Hodge-Podge" and Wayne Cretzky with "Chili a la Wayne!" Perhaps inspired by the modest favourites enjoyed at Windsor, (white fudge), and the White House, (macaroni and cheese), Joan Rivers offers "Toast" as her recipe, assuring the reader that it has been made by her family for generations. Apart from this, the recipes are useful, delicious, and easy to follow, although a basic knowledge of cooking terms and procedures is assumed. The collection has been rounded out with non-celebrity contributions to provide a full range of appetizers, soups, salads, entries, poultry, seafood dishes, luncheons and suppers, desserts and baking. Sturdy binding allows the pages to lie flat; the type is clear and well spaced, with recipes complete on one page. Measurements are given in botli metric and imperial. The index is well planned, and there are several colour photographs of completed dishes. A lighthearted, very general cookbook suitable for popular cookery collections. L.
