Children who like fishing and dream of going on fishing trips will love this attractive little book. Thoroughly explaining the basics of fishing (lore and techniques) to a nine-year-old in his dreams, the author has written an enjoyable story. A minor flaw is that the huge Labrador dog in the story is not consistently drawn in the illustrations; he looks like puppy on page 56 and full grown on page 59.

The author Gord Deval is a noted sport fisherman and holds many Canadian and North American Fly and Bait Casting awards. A fishing terms glossary is included. Novice fishermen, young or old, would benefit from this book.
