During the recent exercise boom, skipping has emerged as one of the most practical, inexpensive, and beneficial forms of exercise. Skip to it!: The New Skipping Book "will teach you how to skip and how to perform easy and advanced skipping tricks."

Aimed at a children's market, this book will also be of use to adults who wish to take up skipping as a means of exercise. The author, Susan E. Kalbfleisch, a health and physical education teacher for sixteen years, also coaches one of the Canadian Heart Foundation's demonstration skipping teams.

The importance of warm up and cool down periods are stressed and exercises are outlined for this purpose. Endless skipping tricks are clearly explained and accompanied by Laurie McGuagan's eaily understood illustrations. Hints are scattered throughout the book in red print.

Of special interest to children, is the use of small pictures at the top comers of the pages. When the pages are flipped rapidly, these pictures create the motion of a boy and girl skipping. Also included in this must-have book are: choosing the proper length of rope, simple and advanced skipping tricks, developing a routine, and group routines. Highly recommended.
