Buszek, a social psychologist and academic who lectures on the social history of colonial women and gerontology has produced a collection of over two hundred recipes in a format that is similar to her other three books The Cranberry Connection, The Blueberry Connection, and The Sugar Bush Connection.

The recipes, which are grouped into nine major headings, including cakes and cookies, potpourri, puddings, drinks, etc., are imaginative and they do not rely on cooking aids. There is an index at the beginning, along with an introductory chapter that includes historical references to the wild red berry and to its modern-day discovery by Jacques Cartier.

The spiral-bound format is appealing with the entire text presented in hand-lettered pages. There are numerous hand-drawn illustrations in black and white and in red. Scattered throughout the book is historical data on the strawberry in fable and folklore.

A special kind of cookbook that will appeal to gourmets who want something that is different.
