It is a treat to view affordable children's books that are as versatile and appealing as Flip the Dolphin and Slip the Otter. Both of these little gems succeed in their intent to help young children learn about animals in their natural environment. Olena Kassian's attractive, full-colour illustrations fill every page. All the illustrations are carefully researched, and they provide adults with opportunities to extend learning beyond the accompanying stories. Both of the stories are centred around problem-solving situations that young children could relate to, and sympathize with. The text is appropriate to read aloud, and easy enough for primary-aged children to tackle independently. Recommended.
