Grades K-3 Reviewed by Joan Young Volume 13 Number 4 1985 July These teaching materials are intended to supplement the Silver Burdett Music Series by providing Canadian song material for Canadian classrooms. Lois Birkenshaw has selected songs mainly from our English and French heritage, although she has included some songs and poems of our native peoples. These selections have been organized into four developmental levels. Individual songs are clearly presented with objectives, teacher information, basic activities, curriculum-related suggestions, and piano accompaniment. Two appendices provide ideas for further extension activities and rhythm instrument accompaniment. Four Madeline masters are to be found at the end of the teacher guidebook. Musictime is further supported by two stereo phonodiscs that present all the songs in the program. This will be appreciated by teachers lacking extensive training in music. However, do not expect to withdraw when playing these Pick-a-Track records, as the stylus must he moved manually from one selection to another.
