THOSE AMAZING JAYS: THE STORY OF THE TORONTO BLUE JAYS.
Robertson, John.

Volume 13 Number 3
A superb diary of the 1984 season for the dedicated Blue Jay watcher. Every key battle, every team, every personality is subjected to Robertson's enthusiastic, but reasonably objective scrutiny. He makes no effort to hide the fans' disillusionment with the season-long bullpen woes of the Jays. His personal relationship with the Blue Jays players enables him to provide interesting insights into the successes and failures, the winning streaks and the slumps, of both the team as a whole, and the individuals responsible for the Jays so-called overnight emergence as a championship contender. The statistics freaks too are well provided for. As the season moves along the reader is kept constantly up-to-date on the pitching and hitting progression of the players, and day-to-day developments in the pennant race as well. By the end of this very personal yearbook, readers find themselves living and dying with the team as it is not only forced to concede the pennant to the invincible Detroit Tigers, but barely survives a ferocious challenge to its second-place position by the Yankees, Orioles, and Red Sox. Robertson concludes his exciting account with the eternal admonition to "Wait 'till next year," and the reader will, with eager anticipation. Recommended for fans of all ages.
