The intriguing title to this 15cm square book is appropriate, since this is a collection of intriguing poems. There are within a variety of different lengths and shapes of poems. It may take several readings and even a certain kind of patience to get to understand and enjoy this poet's creations.

This is the second book of poems for children by George Swede. The first was called Tick Bird (Three Trees, 1983) and is on the Children's Book Centre Choice list. Swede is a teacher of child psychology at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute. This is a good background to have when writing for children.

The illustrator has matched the poems with drawings that are as unpredictable and fun as the poems themselves.
