Pasquale, the singing chef, from the television program, La Cucina Italiana con Pasquale, has adapted over two hundred Italian recipes using ingredients available in Canada. Most of the recipes, which range from appetizers to desserts, are from his show, while others are traditional or created just for the book.

To provide more information than is usually found in most cookbooks and to make Italian home cooking more satisfying, wide margins on one side of each recipe provide space for notes on ingredients, tips on buying and cooking, and suggestions for various recipes. Black-and-white line drawings throughout the text are used to illustrate a particular technique or food.

The recipes are set out in both imperial and metric measure, and each step of the method is numbered. Recipe names are in both Italian and English; the index is in English only.

Overall, this is a fine overview of Italian cooking adapted to the North American scene.
