Volume 13 Number 1
1985 January

The second edition of this publication appeared six years ago. This edition, published in August of 1984, contains updated facts and figures as well as significant changes in curriculum, legislation and policies.

Two new sections have been added. "Language in Education" explains minority language education rights in all provinces and comments on heritage language programs. "New Technologies in Education" describes developments in the use of computers in the schools and long distance learning via satellite, videotex and teleconferencing.

This is an excellent, up-to-date fact book. It covers the roles of the provincial and federal governments in education, and the different types of schools including private schools, special education schools, schools for Indians and Inuit, community colleges and universities.

Although there is no index, the table of contents makes it easy to find information quickly. A very useful appendix gives addresses of all provincial departments or ministries of education, as well as brief notes on a number of national educational organizations, federal departments and agencies involved in education.
