These are some of the fascinating revelations of A Beeman's Journey. The author, now a well-known Canadian naturalist-historian, was given a hive of bees in April of 1936. Thus began an adventure of over forty years with honey bees in Toronto's Don Valley. The book is full of useful and fascinating information about bees. It is also a record of one man's thoughts and experiences as he went about the various seasonal chores of beekeeping. The book is illustrated with pen-and-ink drawings by E.B. (Bev) Saunders. It is spiced with quotations about bees from the like of the Emperor Augustus, Tolstoy, Thoreau and Emily Dickinson.
