Volume 12 Number 6 1984 November When Minerva Wright, a grade 8 student, is chosen to participate in an experimental extra-curricular computer class, she is very excited. Computers, as far as Minerva is concerned, are perfect for her logical mind and love of figures. And compared to her other subjects, Minerva excels in computers; so much so that she is given a special project. Then the trouble begins. Framed in a computer crime scandal, she is banned from the computer room until she and her loyal friends are able to solve the mystery. Solving the mystery, as it turns out, takes brains, ingenuity, courage, a logical mind, and a great deal of co-operation. With all of the above, the crime is solved, the criminal is fingered, and Minerva's name is cleared. Claire Mackay has written a highly entertaining mystery, capturing the flavour and activities of junior high students who are caught between childhood and adolescence. The writing and plot are well crafted and move at a fast pace. The dialogue and characters are believable, well developed, and realistic. Highly recommended.
