The author, a member of the English department at Sir William Osier Vocational School in Scarborough, has prepared this package to accompany the Jim Hunter books, a series of sixteen high-interest, easy-to-read paperbacks intended for use at the grade 3-4 reading level. Jim Hunter is a secret agent who travels the world on various assignments.

The two pages of ideas for teachers consist of a description of the series, description of the student worksheets, and six general suggestions for using them. The student worksheet for each book is divided into sections containing questions and activities intended to develop students' competence in language, comprehension, and research skills. The teachers' section of each worksheet includes a marking scheme, a plot summary, and answers to questions.

This package could be a helpful time-saver to teachers who use the Jim Hunter books as class novels, for independent reading, or as part of a program for learning stations. By design, much of the material is mechanical and, one hopes, would be balanced by some work involving the more aesthetic aspects of literature study. The material varies in level of difficulty, just as the novels therm selves do. The suggestions for research are stimulating and would be especially useful with older students. Recommended.
