Librarians, teachers, and others who work with children will welcome this new collection of Canadian stories suitable for telling to children. The stories range from Inuit and North American Indian legends to Canadian folk tales and modern stories. One section consists of short anecdotes and tall tales that may be told in one minute or less. An appropriate age level is given for each story as well as an average telling time. Inevitably in a collection of this kind the stories vary considerably in appeal. Some of them such as Max Ferguson's version of the Cinderella tale, "Has Anybody Seen My Umbrella?", and the French Canadian story, "A Tale of Much Rejoicing", are real winners, while others fall flat. The short poetry section at the end is especially weak . Despite this, almost everyone will find some pieces to their taste. Author, title, and subject indexes make access easy, and photographs add to the appeal of the book. Altogether, this is a valuable addition to the previous volume, Storytellers' Rendezvous ¹. Let us hope that there are further collections to come.
