Did you know that Lady Diana Spencer is popularly, but inaccurately, known as Princess Diana? The fascination with royalty continues in this realistic historic portrayal of nine Princesses of Wales: Joan of Kent, Lady Anne Neville, Katharine of Aragon, Caroline of Brunswick, Alexandra' of Denmark, Mary of Teck, and Lady Diana Spencer. The three, very knowledgeable Canadian authors take the reader beyond the glamour of the role in a face-to-face encounter with a person attempting to cope with the incredible demands of the position. Although their lives are as varied as the times in which each lives, devotion to royal service is common to all. None appear to be "princesses in tinsel," but demonstrate loyalty and courage throughout their lives. The straightforward, easy-reading manner in which history is revealed, the time line on the cover, the coloured and black-and-white illustrations and the headline catcher, Lady Diana Spencer, all contribute to the recreational and educational enjoyment of this timely publication.
