Volume 12 Number 2 1984 March We first meet Sally in the hospital, where she is having to come to terms with her future as a quadriplegic. Through flashbacks we learn about Sally as a normally rebellious teenager who goes skiing with her boyfriend against her mother's wishes. Unfortunately, the accident that follows seems almost like retribution for this disobedience. It and her relationship with a rather two-dimensional boyfriend strike the only false notes. Sally's struggle to regain some mobility and come to terms with her disability is well delineated. Sally's friend Jake, the hospital rebel, shows us a darker side of a paralyzed person's life, without being morbid. A touching story and not mawkish. Highly recommended.
