When the Land of Sand is threatened by a grain-munching army of rats, Wise Eye the cat uses craft and cunning to ridicule their leader Rufus and send the rats scuttling back to Ratland.

Wise Eye is an easy-to-hold book, which should appeal to primary-aged children, particularly to beginning readers. The captivating story, as told by Margaret Edwards, is not without a valuable lesson at the end. Rose Zgodzinski's fanciful black-and-white jungle illustrations, which occupy a large portion of each page, support the narrative and enhance the elements of humour and intrigue.
