The seven stories in this unique book were written as part of a creative writing course by the editor's grade 13 students in St. Catharines, Ontario. In his introduction, he discusses fairy tales in general and explains that his students were instructed to write a fairy tale in the traditional style using modern terms. The young people were assisted in gathering ideas for their stories by undergoing deep relaxation techniques.

As one expects in any collection, the resulting stories vary in interest and in quality. It is difficult to know for what audience the book is intended. There are no illustrations, so one would not add it to a collection of fairy tales for young children. It might be successfully read to students in grades 4 to 7, especially if fairy tales in general are under discussion. Its other possible use is as part of a collection intended to help teach, as well as display, creative writing.

The volume has a very soft paper cover that would have to be reinforced in order to withstand moderate to heavy use. This is unlikely to be a first purchase for school libraries except in schools where there is a creative writing course or where there is heavy emphasis on creative writing in English courses.
