A special travelling exhibition that illustrates the contributions of the Loyalist Provincial Corps during the Revolution and afterward has been assembled to commemorate the bicentennial of the arrival of the Loyalist families in Canada. The Canadian War Museum was greatly assisted by the New Brunswick Museum, but there has been close communication with curators in twenty-seven museums, galleries, and archives as well as sixteen private collections. This book has been prepared as a record of the exhibition. It contains eighty-nine illustrations of weapons, uniforms, arms and accoutrements, domestic artifacts, silver and furniture. There are reproductions of manuscripts, portraits of Loyalist leaders, and period views of the settings of many of the events described. Each sepia photograph is accompanied by technical data and descriptive historical background. The text has been written by Robert Alien, Phyllis Blakeley, Wallace Brown, Ann Condon, Bernard Pothier, and George Rawlyk, who are recognized authorities in their fields. A bibliography, some notes on contributors, and a good index are welcome. The type may be a bit small for some readers.
