Wilson is a journalist, a former Green Beret, commando and intelligence officer who has published before although this adventure with political overtones is his first novel. It focuses on the question of how far party members will go in order to hold on to elected power; in this case, senior officials consider the assassination of their own party leader and prime minister. Most of the main characters, as well as the prime minister, are Canadians, although much of the action takes place in locations as exotic as Afghanistan and Marrakesh. Only because of a series of accidents and the conscience of the hired killer, is the assassination avoided. A love interest is well woven into the plot. The story should appeal to both sexes although Lorna, the main female character, is somewhat passive and must always be rescued in spite of her courage and adventurous spirit.
