The fifteen essays are divided into five sections, each dealing with a different approach: environmental value, structural, process, and biographical/power base approach. Each chapter is independent, but the deliberate aim of the selections is to show that there is more than one way to study politics. Written by acknowledged Canadian political experts, these essays provide a wide spectrum of views and a wealth of information. There is a minimum of jargon, so the book is an outstanding text for introductory Canadian political studies courses at the high school or community college level. Point-form summaries and study questions at the end of each chapter help students review the topics covered, and the annotated bibliographies should prove useful for students and instructors wishing to pursue the different approaches in more detail.
