This volume is typical of the many books that appear almost instantly on the news-stands following a human interest news event. In this case, it was the tragic death of Gilles Villeneuve, the Canadian Formula One racer, that prompted this publication.

Like others in its genre, the book uses glossy pages and an abundance of full colour photographs to tell Villeneuve's story from the days of snowmobile racing at age seventeen to his early death at thirty-two in a qualifying race for the Belgian Grand Prix.

While students of all ages will enjoy leafing through the book for its superb photographs of cars and races, it is not a book which will stand up to the demands of extensive library use.
