MIME: THE STEP BEYOND WORDS FOR THE ACTORS OF DANCE AND DRAMA
Adrian Pecknold.
Volume 11 Number 2.
Adrian Pecknold, the author of Mime: The Step Beyond Words, is a former member of the Stratford Festival Company of Canada and of the Canadian Mime Theatre. He has prepared this text in response to requests from students and teachers of acting and mime from all across the country. Pecknold divides his approach to the teaching of mime into the following major areas: preparatory exercises, specific mime dynamics, illusory techniques, and several detailed and complete mime pieces. Clear black-and-white photographs and detailed description make the instructions easy to follow and stimulate interest. A glossary of terms and a bibliography complete this thorough and well-organized manual of skills. The teacher of dramatic arts at this school pronounced the book "Great!" No more need be said. Recommended for primary and elementary teachers and for both students and teachers from the intermediate grades and on.
