Fish of the Atlantic (from the Hancock House Fishing series), written from material located in the U.S. Government publication, Anglers' Guides to the United States Atlantic Coast, is a well-conceived book bound to be a favourite among sport fishermen of the Atlantic coast. Very inexpensive, it can be useful in a school library collection, as well.

Typical Atlantic coast fishes are each given a page in this book. The descriptions include Latin name, size, habits, best fishing time, fishing methods, and the most appropriate baits. A map of the range of the fish as well as a black-and-white sketch of each species is provided. Finally, there is a notes section for the fisherman to record the date he/she caught the fish, its location, bait, and comments.

This book is well indexed and is just about the right size to fit into a tackle box or knapsack. A good source of information about the sport fishes of the Atlantic coast, and a good book for a gift to a fishing friend or relative. Libraries can use it too.
