Crawford Kilian is a good writer. The story offers continuous excitement. The plot develops nicely to an ultimate climax, and the main characters assume appropriate depth as they become more involved.

There is fighting, there is romance, there are friends, and there are enemies. The author does take his appropriate poetic license in the realm of the fantastic and paints a variety of pictures involving beings of non-human characteristics with whom our hero, Eyas, co-operates and over whom he triumphs.

Without giving away the ending, I would say the conclusion is unique. This book should offer no difficulties to the high school reader of the fantastic.
