Volume 11 Number 1. 1983 January. Munroe Scott has aptly classed this play as a comedy. He catches the rhythms, speech patterns, and characters of Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice and effectively extends them into a sequel taking place twenty years later. Subtitled a reconciliation, we discover Shylock has come in secret to truly exact his pound of flesh but in the process becomes merciful and reconciled to his former adversaries. Scott treats the situation and the characters imaginatively in a well-structured three-act comedy that is probably most suitable for advanced senior secondary and beyond to produce and to appropriately mature audiences. The script is readable, although sometimes the type drifts off the edge of the page (annoying when you wish to pencil in stage directions). Scott has two other published plays Wu-Feng, 1974 and The Devil's Petition, 1981.
