Free Stuff For Kids is definitely not just for kids! This handy little paperback is a goldmine of information about where to mail away for 300 items from maps to mobiles, bumper stickers to badges, puzzles to posters, all for the bargain basement price of under $1.25.

The book begins with a section on using the book and sending away for the "stuff." The instructions are clear and well-illustrated to guarantee success even for the person who has never sent away for anything. The goodies are divided into categories such as sports, pets, energy, and nature for easy reference, and some are even designated for younger kids or for older students. A handy index in the back also makes it easy if you are only looking for specific objects such as magazines or colouring books.

This wonderful book is not without its drawbacks, however. Only one copy of any item is available at a time, so teachers and librarians will be unable to order class sets. Also, anything in the book is available through 1982 and beyond as long as supplies last, so the book will be quickly outdated. However, I'm sure the editors have foreseen this difficulty, and we should expect a new edition in the near future.
