This is a collection of short, short stories, most of them original, a very few based on fairy tales, and all of them amusing and earthy. The narrator is ol’ Kallie, an Acadian woman, speaking in the patois used to talk to her English-speaking listeners, quite similar to the dialect of William Henr^ Drummond's poetry.

Little Jack an' de Tax-Man is fun to read and would be a good source of skits for amateur theatricals or of humour for after-dinner speeches.
