Curriculum Planning for the Classroom and Implementation Viewpoints represent little more than two further additions to the never-ending curriculum collection. The thrust of Curriculum Planning, the more useful of the two, is "to provide.. . teachers with ideas and guidelines to enable them to heighten their awareness of the scope of curriculum study. . .and in the end, produce better curriculum planning procedures." This intent is well fulfilled by the many intelligent, readable articles that the editors have brought together here. Many of the articles feature practical suggestions for teachers and other curriculum planners, and few, if any, are written in that technical lingo such texts usually wallow in. Implementation Viewpoints, on the other hand, is an uneven mixture of theory and practice and is far less readable. It is also far more traditional in its viewpoint in that only one of the five articles centre on the teacher's role in curriculum development. Both texts include case studies, diagrams, and bibliographies for most articles. Neither has an index. These two might be of some use to professionals involved in the curriculum game but are of little use in the school library except where there is a large professional collection.
