A forward by Hans Selye was a good indicator that Lou Coffey-Lewis' book would have something valuable to say. This reader was not disappointed.

Written "to help you learn ways in which you can participate in restoring yourself to better health and happiness," it is a complement to "whatever medical or health programs" you are following. Health is defined as "not just the absence of disease or symptoms" but "to find your purpose in life and have the ability to fulfil it." Coffey-Lewis says "we don't become well and then make appropriate life choices. We become well as we begin to make right choices for health."

Previous author of four books and numerous articles, Lou Coffey-Lewis was listed in Outstanding Women of America in 1968 and 1972. This book reviews techniques that are part of the holistic approach to medicine. Facts are presented, experience is added, in a sincere, personal style of writing. Featuring a detailed table of contents and extensive bibliography, it could be used in the curriculum as a resource-reference; however, its primary purpose is to be a personal resource in one's own life.

Coffey-Lewis wrote from her own experience and knowledge to inform "that there is hope." Hans Selye says her "timely book represents a great step in that noble direction."
